Since 2019, a few students have hosted an online radio at Ernest-Ferroul High School. This year, their pioneering project received the Academy’s first “Médiatiks” award, which was selected for the National Award.
Ernast-Ferroul’s high school web radio adventure, “Teen Star Fm”, began with former school librarian Dominic Angelvi, CLEMI reference in the context of media and information education. In 2019, the students were offered the opportunity to create a web radio within the school. Recruitment was rather encouraging with dozens of participants, especially from the cinema option, including five to six hardworking students. From there, a conference follows a columnist from Radio Marseillet to guide young people in their first steps.
. Students can then come in their spare time from Monday to Thursday afternoon and revive the web radio between reports, shows, interviews, serials … the job for which they won second place in the Academy’s Mediatiks competition, Montpellier.
What future for radio? While the web radio staff has already been reduced, today it only consists of three irreducible Terminale students (see below). Far from being frustrating, this year they covered a major interdisciplinary educational project on Retirada. The series won the four episodes from which they drew their first Mediatiks Award from CLEMI (**) for the in-depth work and quality executed. Great bonus for the last year in web radio. Today, it is theirs and new documentation professor Florent Casier, finding the next generation so that Web Radio continues: ” The goal is for Teen Fm to become a radio station for young people from Lézignan and not only for high school,Explains Florent Casir. A youth radio made by young people with their choice of subject matter and the way they are approached… To do this, the project will be extended to middle school students from Rosa Parks and Joseph Engled, who are equipped with web radio. Together with my documentation colleagues, we will work to open the project to the three institutions. High school will be the reference because most middle school students are destined to integrate it afterwards

What do web radio students say?
Maïlys Lucon, 17 (public station): “I am a trainee and have often been in CDI. I joined radio in the first year. When I make music in a group, I volunteer for the art part, because I knew how to use the mixer and the microphones… I like to record sound Later, I also had to get into the presentation because we weren’t enough anyway, it was a great personal experience discovering the media and how information is structured, sourcing… It was also a trusting relationship with the school, because we have the studio keys And we use expensive equipment outside of high school.”
Florent de Figueiredo, 17 (the ultimate choice of cinema): “I started 2d radio from the beginning, as a columnist and co-creator of the blog. When I arrived, I was already a little experienced since college because I’ve been into theater. I’ve done a lot of interviews and really appreciate Team spirit. Previously, I was more personal and that made me feel good.”
