LdN: Portugal reaches out, Spain finally launches

The third day of the Nations League booked two matches in Group A on Thursday. Portugal beat the Czech Republic at home 2-0. For its part, Spain scored its first victory in the competition against Switzerland (1-0).

On the occasion of the third day of the League of Nations tournament, Portugal hosted the Czech Republic. Fernando Santos’ men started the match with confidence, building on their success (4-0) against Switzerland the day before. His teammates, Cristiano Ronaldo, achieved a second victory in the competition by beating the Czech Republic 2-0.

After a fairly balanced quarter of an hour, Portugal regained control of the match and increased their attacks on the opposing camp. Thanks to the pressure, the Seleção will open the scoring after half an hour of play thanks to a wonderful goal from Joao Cancelo sent by Bernardo Silva (1-0, 33). A few minutes later, the Manchester City midfielder was still on the job, this time to serve Gonzalo Guedes who cut the second half (2-0, 38th place). Returning from the locker room, Portugal managed to advance to the end of the match to top the group with 7 points.

Spain finally wins

In the other match of this group, Spain moved on the Swiss turf. Luis Enrique’s men won after two draws with Portugal (1-1) and the Czech Republic (2-2). In a somewhat closed meeting, La Roja managed to pull out of the match by winning by the lowest margins (1-0).

Pablo Sarabia opened the scoring for the Spaniards at the start of the match, after a great teamwork on his part (13, 1-0). The score would not move until the end of the match and Spain won their first success in the League of Nations. In the ranking, La Roja is second behind Portugal. Note that in Group B matches, Norway and Slovenia tied (0-0). Meanwhile, Sweden lost at home to Serbia (1-0) with the sole achievement of Luka Jovic.
