Children disappear every year and some are never found. On the occasion of International Missing Children’s Day, Wednesday, May 25, the Children’s Rights Foundation mobilized to once again alert residents to these mysterious disappearances. While some cases are resolved quickly, others give investigators a hard time.
In France, a large number of disappearances of children have not been clarified. Yannis Morey, Marion Wagon or even Estelle Muzin, we go back to these more than ten-year-old cases, which were never made clear.
Yannis Morey, who died in 1989
Yannis Moré enjoys building a cottage with his brothers in front of his home in Ganagobie Village. Then, at the age of 3, he suddenly disappeared on the morning of May 2, 1989. A year later, investigators found his clothes, shoes and chain near the place of disappearance. These effects confirm the abduction hypothesis. Investigators are actively searching for the little boy but he remains untraceable and still is today.
Marion Wagon, she disappeared in 1996
This 10-year-old has always been nicknamed “the granddaughter of a milk carton”. Her image was broadcast on millions of packages in order to find her. Marion Wagon disparaît à Agen dans le Lot-et-Garonne, le 14 November 1996. Alors qu’elle n’a que 400 mètres à parcourir à la sortie de l’école pour rejoindre son domicile, la petite-fille n’y arrivera Start.
Among the investigators and multiple calls of witnesses, the girl was never found. In April 2021, a new investigative judge took over the case, ordering new DNA samples to be taken to see if the case could be linked to Michel Fourneret. Again, the research is inconclusive. This case has just been handed over to the judges of the new “frozen case” division.
On the 24th, W9 aired a documentary about the granddaughter. For the first time, Michel Wagen agreed to return to the case of his daughter’s disappearance. Teacher George Katala, my deceased father’s lawyer, finds hope: “We have a chance. Several methods are being studied »He said in the southwest.
Cecile Fallen disappeared in 1997
Cecile Valin was last seen on a secondary road at the Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne exit in Savoy, where she was living. She was 17, and she was due to pass her bac the day after her disappearance. At the time, we believe he was a fugitive. But the investigation was unable to establish the circumstances in which the young man disappeared. As for Marion Wagen, checks were carried out to see if there was a possible link with Michel Fourneret, who was in Savoy at the time. Unfortunately, this leadership did not come to naught.
Estelle Muzin, disappeared in 2003
If the disappearance of the young girl seems to have found an answer with the confessions of Michel Fourneret, the failure of the last excavations and the death of the serial killer leave a flavor of unfinished work. Twenty-one years after the disappearance, Estelle Muzin’s body has not been found.
The 9-year-old granddaughter disappeared on January 9, 2003 on the way between school and her home. Weather conditions are complex, and snow makes any search for footprints impossible. According to Monique Oliver, the ex-wife of the serial killer, the latter had kidnapped the young girl, kidnapped and raped her. All this would have happened in the murderer’s house in Isancourt and Rommel. Partial DNA traces of Estelle Muzin were found on a mattress.
Last fall, after Michel Fournier’s confession, investigators carried out the last excavations to find the body, in the presence of Monique Olivier. Unfortunately, searches turned up nothing.
Matisse Guano, who died in 2011
In 2011, 8-year-old Matisse Guano went missing in Mondville, near Caen, in Calvados. Sylvain Guano, his father, who would have given him back to his mother at the end of the day, was never found. Finally, it is located in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, in the Gard. He ended up admitting to leaving with Matisse. He was tried in 2015 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for kidnapping and forced confinement. However, he never wanted to locate his son.
Ten years after Matisse-Guano’s disappearance, a new leader has re-launched the investigation after the broadcast of the episode Calls for Witnesses, on M6, on September 19, 2021. Three witnesses claim to have spotted a homeless person on the streets of Avignon, closely resembling an old photo of Matisse. Currently, the investigation has not made it possible to determine whether he is indeed the missing little boy.
