What is Juice’s business model, a free app?

Juice has different working models:

  • Free version of the app featuring personalized, interactive ads with calls to action (a novelty in audio).
  • The basic subscription plan will provide an ad-free experience.
  • The pro subscription mode allows you to get a personalized information feed on specific keywords.
  • BtoB activity provides company versions of Juice, in which consumer content is mixed with the company’s internal messages to its employees or affiliates.

In its current first version, every listener of Juice can constantly perceive a large number of topics, without getting bored, without making efforts.

There are two ways to consider personalization. On the other hand, there is pre-allocation: I only ask to see what I know and what I like, and thus build my own bubbles. On the other hand, there is post-personalization (which we apply to Juice): the listener is exposed to all kinds of content that mixes those he likes with those he doesn’t yet know. He has the possibility to reject new proposals presented to him (has an inalienable right to hate something). According to our experience, with subsequent personalization, it turns out that people listen to types of content, sources of information, and views of the opposing political side, which they would never choose automatically.

How can the application enable discovery?

We make it a point of honor to enhance serendipity. Unless the listener completely refuses to hear some type of content, we continue to constantly introduce new content. Moreover, the short audio format facilitates access to topics that the listener is not usually interested in. By minimizing the effort required and investing time, curiosity is encouraged. When you know all about people or football, you just have to listen distractedly for 90 seconds, it becomes possible, “profitable”, to be interested in it.

…and why not, also to educate users to develop personalized “care” behaviors?

One of the big challenges for the AI ​​we’re working on is figuring out when to be silent. It is much easier today to design relevant and contextual content than to know when nothing should be said at all, and at what time of the user’s day it is necessary to provide quiet moments (with silence, meditation or just some kind of music for example). Hopefully we get there because Juice’s play times get longer and it becomes easier to squeeze in some downtime.
